Onyfix Nail Correction
Ingrown and curved toenails can be painful, difficult to manage and often recur despite careful nail cutting. While nail surgery is an excellent long-term solution for many people, it isn't the right choice for everyone.
Onyfix® is a modern nail correction system designed to gently guide the nail into a healthier shape as it grows. By addressing the underlying curvature of the nail, Onyfix may help reduce pain and decrease the likelihood of future ingrown toenails without permanently removing part of the nail.
How Does Onyfix Work?
Rather than removing part of the nail, Onyfix uses a specially designed composite material that is bonded to the surface of the toenail.
Once cured, the composite helps guide the nail as it grows, gradually reducing the excessive curvature that often causes pain and ingrown nails.
Because the nail is encouraged to grow in a more natural position, pressure on the surrounding skin can reduce over time.

Does It Hurt?
Application of the Onyfix brace is usually painless.
No local anaesthetic is required.
If your toenail is significantly inflamed, infected, or has a painful nail spike embedded in the surrounding skin, this will usually need to be treated first. Once the toe has settled and the nail is suitable for application, Onyfix® can be applied at a follow-up appointment to help guide the nail into a healthier shape as it grows.
How Long Does Treatment Take?
The initial appointment generally takes around 30–45 minutes.
The Onyfix brace remains attached while the nail grows naturally. Depending on the severity of the nail curvature and how quickly your nails grow, treatment commonly takes 6–18 months.
Periodic review appointments allow us to monitor progress and replace or adjust the brace as required.
Is Onyfix Better Than Nail Surgery?
Not necessarily—they simply treat different problems.
Onyfix aims to preserve your natural nail by gently correcting its growth over time.
Nail surgery permanently removes part (or all) of the nail and has an excellent long-term success rate for persistent ingrown toenails.

Yes. Once fully cured, the Onyfix brace is water resistant and normal showering or swimming is usually fine.
